OSBOURN DORSEY ~ THE DOOR ~

A self‑taught inventor who began his career as a blacksmith. Before his innovation, most people closed their doors with simple latches or leather straps. But in 1878, at just 16 years old, Dorsey patented the doorknob and doorstop, offering a safer, more durable, and much more efficient way to open and secure doors. His design quickly became the standard for American homes.

Dorsey didn’t stop there. He also patented a clothes wringer, a fire escape, and a brick‑making machine — inventions that still support everyday household needs and industrial growth to this very day. SALUTE!!!
